🥇 Winning the (hiring) gold

A new report says the TA role is morphing into one of "strategic talent advising."

👋 Bonjour, Ami! (That's "Hello, Friend!" in French, btw…) Yes, we’re watching the 2024 Paris Olympics right now, which (fun fact!) will employ over 150,000 people—more than the entire population of Saint Lucia. From security personnel to caterers, it takes a village (or a small country) to run the Games.

Speaking of Olympic jobs, did you hear that four-time Olympian Lily Zhang's parents are pushing her to get a "real job" despite her ping-pong success? It seems even Olympians aren't immune to career anxiety. Who would've thought we all have something in common with the most elite athletes in the world?

NEWS
One Thing You Should Know This Week
iCIMS Releases 2024 CHRO Report

The talent acquisition game is changing, and recruiters are leveling up to "strategic talent advisors." That's the word from iCIMS' latest CHRO Report (July 2024), and it's got us all buzzing.

🖼️ The big picture.
According to the report, the role of talent acquisition professionals is transforming into one of strategic talent advising. This shift is driven by changing market dynamics, technological advancements, and evolving candidate preferences.

Why this matters:

  • The talent market is facing new challenges, including limited availability of both talent and skills.

  • Remote work has complicated hiring processes, adding new dimensions to consider.

  • Compliance landscapes are becoming more complex, with issues like pay transparency and AI bias in hiring.

  • The "start-stop" nature of the current hiring market requires maintaining warm talent pools.

  • Candidate experience has become increasingly crucial in the hiring process.

🧮 By the numbers:

  • 91% of HR execs say the TA role is morphing into one of strategic talent advising.

  • 47% suggest this transformation has already occurred.

  • 44% expect it to happen in the future.

  • 65% of CHROs are investing in AI technology for recruiting.

  • 37% of CHROs are investing in tech to support internal mobility growth.

🤔 What this means for TAs.
This evolution requires talent professionals to be more strategic in their approach. They need to focus on both external recruiting and intentional upskilling of current talent. The emphasis is shifting from just filling roles to creating long-term value through talent management and development.

🤖 Right tech = right results.
As recruitment teams downsize, talent acquisition professionals are leveraging technology to maximize efficiency. By implementing the right tech stack, TA pros are automating routine tasks and streamlining processes, allowing them to accomplish more with fewer resources. (Need some help here? Our team will do it for ya 😄).

💬 Doing more with less.
"Not only are [HR teams] doing more with less, but they also want to elevate the level of capability and conversation that these recruiters and TA teams are involved in," iCIMS CPO Laura Coccaro told HR Brew in a recent interview. "The only way to do that is by leveraging technology."
