The new college cheat code: actual work.
👋 Hello, TAs! Did anyone order an iced caramel macchiato? It's for delivery – since even coffee giants are now embracing the remote work revolution…
Starbucks' new CEO, Brian Niccol, just scored the ultimate perk: working from his SoCal home and jetting to Seattle HQ on the company's dime, as needed. Only thing missing is a lifetime supply of House Blend bags and collective mugs. Talk about a (venti) flex work policy.
It's got us wondering: what's your dream work-from-anywhere setup? A villa in Marrakech? A café in Paris? Maybe just your couch with unlimited iced americanos? Let us know with #AnywhereAugust!

One Thing You Should Know This Week
College Co-ops: The New Hiring Hotspot?
Move over, Harvard. According to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal, there's a new star in the college recruitment world, and it's all about getting hands-on experience before graduation.
🖼️ The big picture.
Schools like Northeastern University, Drexel, and Georgia Tech are seeing a surge in popularity thanks to their co-op programs, which let students alternate between academics and full-time paid work.
💼 A new kind of work-study.
With tuition costs soaring higher than a Silicon Valley startup's valuation, and student debt piling up faster than dirty laundry in a freshman dorm, both families and businesses are questioning if traditional universities are producing the talent companies actually need. The report suggests co-op programs might just be the new answer, providing a win-win situation for students hungry for experience and companies starving for skilled workers.
🤝 Job-readiness …
… is becoming a popular goal for more and more prospective college students. Northeastern University has seen its acceptance rate plummet from 32% to 5.6% in just a decade. And the placement results are impressive: 95% of Northeastern students report being employed or in grad school within 9 months of graduation. Talk about a fast track to success.
💸 Companies reap the benefits.
For businesses, these programs are like a talent buffet where they've already taste-tested the dishes. Drexel University reports that nearly half of its students get job offers from their co-op employers. Companies get a pipeline of talent they've already worked with and vetted, reducing the risk of hiring duds and the cost of training newbies. It's a win-win.
💡 Rethinking recruitment strategies.
For recruiters, it's time to consider these co-op programs as the new hunting grounds for top talent. These schools are essentially creating a pre-vetted talent pool, marinating in real-world experience before they even don their graduation caps. Building stronger partnerships with schools offering these programs could be the secret sauce in your recruitment strategy.
🏫 The future of higher education.
In the end, these programs are turning the old adage "you need experience to get experience" on its head. For recruiters, it might be time to update that campus visit schedule – your next star employee could be halfway through achieving mid-level experience before they even toss their graduation cap.
